Excitement is building ahead of the Olympic Torch’s arrival in Cornwall this evening.
VIPs including David Beckham, Princess Anne and Lord Coe will be accompanying the flame back from Athens on board a golden-coloured BA plane.
It is due to land at Culdrose this evening shortly before 7.30pm, with a special ceremony held at the air base to mark the occasion.
The torch will then begin its 70-day journey across the UK at 7am at Land’s End on Saturday, when Falmouth sailor Ben Ainslie will become the first of 8,000 torchbearers to carry the flame.
It will spend its first day travelling through Cornwall to Plymouth, stopping at a number of locations including Helston, Falmouth and Truro.
Coverage of tonight’s ceremony and tomorrow’s will appear on this website throughout the weekend.
