Following a request from pupils at Penair School, Truro and Falmouth MP Sarah Newton has signed up to the ‘Send my Friend to School’ campaign.
The campaign, run by the Global Campaign for Education, is intended to raise awareness of the sixty seven million children worldwide who won’t receive an education and calls for the UK to play a major part in tackling this.
Year seven students at Penair School support the campaign and last week sent over a hundred and fifty colourful representations to Mrs Newton, calling for her help in promoting the campaign.
Mrs Newton said: "I am delighted that Penair students are playing such a proactive role in this global campaign to get more children into education, and am pleased to add my voice to their support for this initiative.
"Having spoken to Ministers about this issue I know that they much agree that investing on education in developing countries is crucial, providing children with the best route out of poverty.
