A volunteer scheme aimed at tackling low-level crime and anti-social behaviour in Falmouth celebrated three months of successful operations recently.
The Falmouth Street Watch initiative, launched at the start of April, sees police-trained volunteers dressed in high visibility jackets patrolling the streets of the Gyllyngvase ward of town.
To mark their third month in operation, the Street Watch team were visited by Falmouth MP Sarah Newton and town mayor Geoffrey Evans who discussed the schemes possible expansion.
Mrs Newton said: “Sadly I couldn’t go out with them on patrol because I’m still on my crutches [after breaking her hip following a fall in London in May] but I’m very supportive of what they are doing.
“The police said they found it really valuable because obviously they can’t be everywhere all the time and the volunteers pass on information to a secure website which the police officers on patrol in Falmouth pick up on.”
