A POPULAR beach side cafe has had to make the extreme decision of closing two days a week because of severe staff shortages saying the industry is 'on its knees'.
The Gylly Beach Cafe on Gyllyngvase Beach, Falmouth says after 'exhausting every avenue' it was being forced to close its doors every Monday and Tuesday.
In a post on its Facebook page it said like many other establishments it was feeling the impact of a national hospitality crises and was suffering a severe lack of available trained staff and professionals within the industry.
"We as many other establishments are feeling the impact of a national hospitality crisis, suffering a severe lack of available trained staff and professionals within the industry," it said.
"Unfortunately, having exhausted many other avenues, we have been forced to make the extreme decision of closing the cafe every Monday and Tuesday for the foreseeable future.
"This is not something we have taken lightly, but it is necessary to protect our existing, fabulous, hardworking team, and ultimately our future business in these unprecedented times.
"Much of the hospitality trade in Cornwall and nationally are on their knees, and sadly we are the latest victims of this."
The company says it will carry on recruiting and training so that they may re-open 7 days a week at the earliest possible opportunity.
"But until then, we hope you can understand our decision. Please bear with us in these difficult times and visit us with a sunny smile from Wednesday to Sunday when we will welcome you from 9am until late. #bekindtohospitality The Gylly Team"
