Cornwall has been nominated for the "County of the Year" award by England Golf.
In a press release they described Cornwall as "a small county showing outstanding levels of communication and engagement during pandemic year."
Gloucestershire, Lincolnshire and Lancashire are also nominated for the prize.
An expert panel of judges made up of England Golf staff as well as industry and media colleagues had the unenviable task of narrowing down the list of potential winners from an outstanding long list of nominations.
Cornish golf club Whitsand Bay has also been nominated for the Sustainability Project of the Year award. Situated in South East Cornwall it was outlined by England Golf as "a club which has taken an economically viable and environmentally sustainable approach to golf course management in order to restore the course’s natural beauty and attract new members."
The virtual awards ceremony is set to be held at 18:30 on Thursday June 6 on England Golf's Youtube channel and will be hosted by broadcaster, journalist and avid golfer Naga Munchetty.
England Golf are one of the largest governing bodies in the country they look after the interests of around 1,800 golf clubs and 637,000 golf club members.
