Saturday saw the final round of the Winter League being played at Falmouth Golf Club, writes Keith Rashleigh.
Despite all the rain during the week the ground staff led by head greenkeeper Andrew Prowse still managed to present the course in immaculate condition.
However, they could not do anything about the fog which stopped play twice before conditions were given the green light and play commenced for a third time.
Mike Elliot was red hot favourite going into the final building a considerable lead in the previous rounds and he made no doubt about securing the trophy when he and Malcolm Coulls won on the day with a fine haul of 44 stableford points with respective ninnies of 21 and 23.
Runners up were Club Captain Pete Lewis and Andy Morris who just missed out on count back scoring 44 points with nines of 23 and 21.
The easiest hole on the day was the 11th which averaged + 0.13 and the most challenging was the 5th which averaged + 1.09. There were 21 birdies in total.
The top six in the Winter league table were. Mike Elliott 93. Callum Davis 85. Luke Geach 85. Andy Morris 79. George Whitbread 74. Pete Chambers 70.
