IT was the clash of the leaders of the East and West sections of the Kernow Stone St Piran League’s Tracy Banfield Cup with St Dominick coming out on top with the narrowest of victories.
Both teams were unbeaten in their respective leagues, but St Dominick snatched the crucial winner when Callum Courts scored just after half-time.
Falmouth Town Reserves had no such worries about close calls after they demolished east section strugglers Altarnun 9-0 and Porthleven saw off the challenge of Saltash Reserves with a fine 3-1 win with the goals coming from Fraser Paterson (2) and Louis Bell.
After a goalless first half Illogan RBL wrapped up their tie at Penryn Athletic with three second half goals from Simon Ellis, Matt Allum and Nathan Hampton to win 3-1.
Pendeen saw a 2-0 half-time lead disappear in their Cornwall Intermediate Cup tie at St Blazey Reserves after going down 4-2. Goals from Harry Hambly, Ross Willcox and Ollie Swiggs (2) squeezed Saints into the next round. Nick Barber and Danny Earl had Rovers’ goals.
Mousehole Development closed the gap on leaders St Day with a comprehensive 6-1 win against Wendron United Reserves. Callum Bertrand had United’s goal.
Mullion Reserves came out on top in their local derby with Helston Development I 3-2 after notching goals through Drew Chambers, Jonty Wheatley and James Dark.
Redruth United won their first league game of the season after defeating bottom side St Agnes 3-2. Regan Barthorpe, Daniel Horler and Louis Matthews scored United’s goals.
The division one top-of-the-table clash between Mawnan and leaders Troon ended with honours even after a 1-1 draw.
There was little to choose between two competitive sides until Troon took an early second half lead through Marcus Grasso, but Mawnan levelled after 55 minutes when Luke Wort headed in from eight yards.
A rampant RNAS Culdrose had a stunning 8-2 victory against a West Cornwall side unbeaten in their last 10 games. Robertas Sumnauskas and Reece McKnight scored for the home side.
Wendron United III were also big winners following a 5-1 win away to Ludgvan. Zach Alexander, Ben Martin, Lee Smith. Xolani Tukulula and an own goal were United’s scorers. Josh Findlay had Ludgvan’s goal.
Hayle Reserves were comfortable 6-2 winners away to St Agnes Reserves and Camborne SoM also racked up a big win with a 5-1 victory at St Day III.
Ross Duncan hit a hat-trick for St Ives Town in their 4-1 win at home to Porthleven Reserves. Asa Donaldson had the other goal and Aaron Orchard netted for the Fishermen.
