PLAYED at the Mennaye Field on Saturday, there were tries and points aplenty in what was the Pirates Amateurs last home game before Christmas, writes Phil Westren.
A nine-to-four try-count in favour of the home side underlined their dominance, although there was credit also to the visiting Bude team who at least deservedly earned a four-try bonus point.
Tries for the Pirates were scored by full-back Ben Wragg, wing Morgan Holman, skipper and prop Ben Taylor (2), wing Harvey Stone (2), number 8 Archie Pilcher, replacement Sam Carrol, and fly-half Harris Eddy. In a game where lock forward Ben Martin was the adjudged man of the match, Ben Wragg also slotted six conversions.
Speaking at the end of a game head coach Murray Westren said: "Despite a couple of league results having not gone our way of recent, the lads have stuck at it with determination and positivity.
"Commitment and dedication has been on display in training, which showed in this performance, so due credit to them for the manner in which they achieved this result and at the same time entertained our dedicated supporters."
The Pirates Amateurs are next in action away to league leaders Plymstock Albion Oaks this coming Saturday
