The Pirates Amateurs won well, 31-22, away to Barnstaple II at the Devon club's Pottington Road ground in their opening Counties 1 Tribute Western West league game.
Full-back Ben Wragg kicked off the scoring with a penalty, and converted the Pirates' opening try by centre Morgan Holman.
Newly appointed skipper, flanker Stan Somers, scored twice, and fly-half Oscar Marr also crossed the line.
Wragg successfully converted all four tries.
Barnstaple replied with three tries, a penalty, and two conversions.
Pirates Amateurs’ head coach Murray Westren said: "It was great to get an opening day victory away from home which is never an easy task.
"We had a very good pre-season but had to show a lot of character and fight to get all five points."
The Pirates Amateurs are next in action at home on Saturday, September 14 when they face Wiveliscombe in their second league game at 2.30pm.
