Cornwall has won the Senior Men’s County Finals for the first time ever.

The historic victory unfolded at Torquay Golf Club, with Cornwall narrowly defeating Lincolnshire on a tense final day.

Cornwall's win marks the first time a South West team has taken home the trophy since the competition began in 2005.

The competition kicked off with a rain-shortened first day, where Cornwall managed a narrow victory over Lincolnshire.

Day two saw Cornwall fall to BB&O (Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire), while Lincolnshire dominated Durham.

All teams entered the final day level on match points.

Despite losing their morning foursomes to Durham, Cornwall rallied to win the afternoon singles, clinching a 5-4 victory overall.

The fate of the trophy then hinged on the outcome of the Lincolnshire vs BB&O match.

Lincolnshire, in pursuit of their first-ever title, led after the morning foursomes.

However, Gary Mumford of BB&O won the final singles match, resulting in an overall draw, handing Cornwall the title.

Despite Lincolnshire accumulating the most game points overall, Cornwall's two match victories ensured they took the trophy.

Lincolnshire’s Colin Trestrail was named player of the tournament, having won all five of his matches.
