Falmouth Road Runners were out in massive numbers at the Storm Force 10 mile road race held in Camborne Sunday the 20th,

The event, which starts from Camborne Secondary school, was a chilly affair with temperatures at the start line down to approximately minus 2 degrees.

This did not deter the hardy Falmouth contingent with shorts, vests and club pride the only protection from the cold.

Once the race was underway the temperatures were soon rising, and the weak winter sun made an appearance helping turn the heat up a little.

The course is one of the milder courses on the Grand Prix circuit with only a couple of testing hills. The Race always gets off to a flying start with the first mile all down hill. This is compensated for by the steep climb up to Leedstown at the four mile mark.

There was ice on the puddles at this height. The course levels for several miles following this until the return leg up towards Camborne at about 8 miles in.

A long hill takes you about a mile away from the finish and then some serious racing takes place.
The finish is down hill and makes for some serious drama as positions are swapped.

Falmouth were able to field a strong side this year with some really top class runners. Several were able to finish in the top twenty and Rich Dalton was first home just over the hour in 15th place.

He has been quoted as being slightly disappointed with his performance but  will no doubt soon bounce back.

Dalton was followed one place behind in 16th by Ric Keefe. The first lady home was flying accountant Tammy Jenkin in 1.17.57 (188th) who was chased all the way by Karen Snell (215th).
Plenty of first timers were also out on the course for Falmouth.

The support team for the Roadrunners deserves special mention, with plenty of cold but cheery Falmothians shouting encouragement along the way.
