A fine batting display from Falmouth's top order helped Adrian Noott's side cruise to victory in their opening Premier Division game away at Callington on Saturday.

Falmouth won the toss and decided to bowl.

And for a time it looked as though the decision might backfire, with Matthew Robins and Jake Libby hitting 27 and 51 respectively.

But Falmouth made the breakthrough when Robins was caught off the bowling of Harry Roberts with Callington on 45.

Jon Udy bowled Libby minutes later, and Falmouth were able to restrict the home side to 164 for 8 off 47 overs.

Falmouth's innings started brightly. Stefan Churcher put in another impressive showing, making 32 before being caught behind off the bowling of Matthew Robins, during a first wicket stand of 61 with fellow opener Richard Kellow.

Kellow went on to top-score with 38, ably assisted by Antony Angove who hit 36, helping Falmouth to 119-3.

Matt Goldsbury and captain Noott lost their wickets cheaply, but by and large the platform built by Churcher and Kellow allowed the visitors to bat without fear.

And it was left to Ed Farley to complete the victory for Falmouth, who reached their target of 165 in relative comfort to win by five wickets.
