Falmouth win by six wickets
Falmouth's impressive start to the season continued at Trescobeas on Saturday, after a superb display with the bat and ball from Antony Angove helped ease them to a six wicket victory against St Austell.
In perfect conditions Falmouth won the toss and chose to bowl.
And it proved the right decision, with only Michael Bone (42) and Craig Richards (29) offering any resistance as the home side's bowling attack tore through the visitors' top order.
Justin Stephens dismissed St Austell opener Sean Hooper for a duck, and John Udy and George Popplewell chipped in with a wicket apiece.
But the day belonged to Angove, whose 7 for 31 helped Falmouth restrict the visitors to 120.
With a relatively modest target to chase, Falmouth's batsmen made an inauspicious start, with openers Richard Kellow and Stefan Churcher giving up their wickets cheaply.
Matt Goldsbury came in and steadied the ship with a solid 23 before being caught off the bowling of Stephen Bone.
But it was Angove, proving he could be just as deadly with the bat, who made the difference.
His unbeaten 58 helped Falmouth over the line at a canter, reaching their target off just 30 overs, and further adding to their reputation as the side to watch so far this season.
