Falmouth are the joint leaders of the Jolly’s Drinks ECB Cornwall Premier League.
Albeit only two rounds have been played, but following on from the hundred per cent 50/50 Cup campaign it has been an encouraging start for Adrian Noott’s men.
They share top spot with St Just, with last year’s champions, Werrington, just two points behind.
Having been put in, it was a sorry return to Trescobeas for former skipper Sean Hooper.
He was dismissed to the first ball of the match when Justin Stephens got through his defence.
It was a great start for the home side, and Antony Angove followed up to remove Gary Bone with only five on the board.
Mike Bone and Craig Richards got their heads down to take the total to 61 before Richards was caught by Matt Golsbury off George Popperwell for 29.
That signalled a collapse for the visitors as the next six wickets fell for just 26 runs, as Angove ran riot.
He got rid of Matt Ellison and Chris Wallbank for ducks.
Mike Bone was next to go at 83 when he was bowled by Angove for 42. Jon Udy had Callum Wilson caught for 12 by Ed Farley before Angove wrapped up the tail removing Scott Barrott and Liam Watson.
Last man Steve Bone was undefeated on 13 after he had added 24 with Watson. Angove ended with tremendous figures of seven for 31 from 15.5 overs. Stephens and Popperwell also bowled miserly spells taking a wicket each.
Stephens sent down eleven overs for ten runs and Popperwell thirteen overs for 20 runs. Wilson then struck to remove the prolific Stefan Churcher and Richard Kellow with only nine on the board.
Stephens followed at 23 but Goldsbury (23), Angove (58no) and Noott (18no) saw the home team to victory with almost 30 overs to spare. Wilson took three for 36.
Falmouth are at home again this weekend with Camborne the visitors to Trescobeas (1pm). Following Cornwall’s successful weekend, where they won on the road at Oxfordshire and Bedfordshire.
The date of Falmouth’s Premier 50/50 Cup semi-final with Callington has been revised.
Cornwall will now have an MCCA Trophy quarter final on 16th June, so the cup games have been put back a fortnight to Sunday 28 June.
Elsewhere in the Premier League on Saturday St Just chased down 254 to win at Paul with Gary Thomas making 95 not out.
Werrington had a 48 run home win over Truro.
There were a couple of early finishes with Grampound Road losing to Camborne by seven wickets after being bowled out for 60.
Callington gained the same margin of victory at Redruth after the Reds were all out for 117.
