CAMBORNE 207 for 7

HELSTON 221 for 8

Helston won by 14 runs.

Dan Jenkin's 52, and a superb 71 from Chris Martin helped Helston to victory against Camborne seconds on Saturday - but they were forced to work hard for the win.

Helston looked set for a big total, with the visitors poised at one point on 145-2, before Camborne's bowlers rallied to restrict them to 221 for 8 off 48 overs.

Stuart Pethick hit a solid 22, with Mark Thomas (19) and Steve Jenkin (17) keeping the scoreboard ticking over.

In response Camborne made almost the perfect start to their innings, with Gary Stephens (52) and Martin Woolcock (34) providing a platform for the rest of the Camborne batsmen to build upon before the pair were dismissed by Steve Jenkin and Kannan Mathivannan respectively.

But despite their strong start, Camborne were unable to capitalise. Only Malcolm Pooley gave Helston any cause for concern, making 42 before being bowled by Dan Jenkin.

After his wicket fell Helston were able to wrap up the win with some miserly bowling, restricting Camborne to 207 for 7 in a thrilling finale.
