Life without Liam started with an emphatic 4-1 win for Helston Athletic against Truro City's reserves at a rainy and windswept Kellaway Parc on Saturday.

Eddy's move to Truro City left some questioning how Helston would cope without their thirty goal a season striker, but after six minutes they had their answer.

Ashley Stidwell received the ball wide on the left, and looped a cross high into the box that caught the wind and sailed over Luke Payne into the back of the net.

Two minutes later the Blues extended their lead when Truro City summer trialist Charlie Young burst through a tackle, raced to the byline and fizzed a low cross for Mark Goldsworthy to tap in.

Truro were reeling, and just before the break they conceded a third.

Keegan McPhilbin's inch-perfect through ball found Tom Russell, who dinked his over Luke Payne.

Truro had chances of their own, but they were few and far between as Helston turned the screw.

They did pull one back just after half time when Ben Stidwell's challenge on Harry Evans in the box prompted referee Barry Jackson to point to the spot.

Scott Palmer's penalty almost burst the back of the net with Robertson beaten.

But Helston sealed a thoroughly deserved win in the 77th minute when man of the match Charlie Young stroked in the Blues' fourth from the edge of the box.
