DARREN Horton organised Falmouth Golf Club's annual pilgrimage to one of Cornwall's stunning links courses and this year it was West Cornwall who were hosts to 44 members who were eager to blow out the cob webs of the festive season.
The competition was Stableford format 3/4 handicap. There were prizes for the top three best individual scores, best team score, longest drive and nearest the pin.
The weather was superb, but as one would expect with a links course the wind made several of the holes very difficult.
Brian Stephens won the nearest the pin competition, his ball finishing 33 inches from the pin. Carl Templeton hit a monster drive to win the longest drive competition. The team competition was won by Brian Stephens, Nigel Molin, John Rule and Andy Hawkins who scored 124 points between them.
The individual competition was won by club captain Paul Collins with 37 points, Simon Hirst was second with 36 points and Nigel Molin third with 34 points.
Results: 1, Paul Collins, 37 points; 2, Simon Hirst, 36 points; 3, Nigel Molin, 34 points.
