CSM 1 Falmouth 4
Falmouth mixed hockey team played the first of their three group matches in this season's mixed competition at Pool School on Sunday.
The mixed team, consisting of Falmouth Ladies and men from Truro, braved the weather to open the defence of their county title.
After a strong start a loose ball was capitalised on by the CSM forwards and converted past keeper Andy Webborn against the run of play.
Falmouth soon hit back; a strong run down the right from Bernie Matthews found Iona Middleton wide.
She picked out Ged Millward whose driven cross was met brilliantly by Josh Pearce diving at the near post. Another goal soon followed with Will Smith converting over the keeper with a slick reverse touch.
After the break Falmouth continued to dominate and CSM struggled to gain any hold on the game.
Any moves into the Falmouth 25 area were cut out brilliantly by the defence of Megan Cookson, Rachel Medd and Tom Hubbard.
A well rehearsed penalty corner saw Millward and Matthews link up to produce the 3rd goal.
Only a minute later Victoria Pryor picked up a ball off the keeper's pads for the fourth. Falmouth play Duchy and Penzance in their other group matches.
Falmouth: Kat Barbery-Redd, Vic Pryor, Meg Cookson, Rachel Medd, Iona Middleton, Andy Webborn, Ged Millward, Bernie Matthews, Josh Pearce, Tom Hubbard, Jonny Sutton and Will Smith.
