North Petherton 16 Camborne 40
Camborne gave a superb display in Somerset running in six tries to comprehensively defeat a North Petherton side who had previously lost just once at home this season.
The win sees the Cherry and Whites keep up the pressure on the South West One pacesetters and sets them up for the crucial big Cornwall derby clash at home to St Austell (3.00pm kick off) this weekend.
For the visit to North Petherton Town welcomed back Joe Parma and Aaron Hunt in the threequarters with Will Webster starting at prop.
Camborne laid the foundation for their win with some excellent play in an opening half hour that saw three touchdowns for an imposing 19-3 lead.
First Dave Roberts picked up off the base of a close range scrum to feed right wing Hunt who went over unchallenged.
Though David Mankee could not add the extras he was soon on target to convert when No 8 Roberts released flanker Cameron Bone on a fine 30 metre angled run to outpace the despairing home cover and romp over.
It quickly got even better for Town when Alex Ducker received the ball on halfway and raced clear before sidestepping the last tackler and running around under the posts. Mankee again converted.
Though the shell shocked home side managed a second penalty for 6-19 at the break the visitors were soon out of sight in the second period when left wing Ducker completed his brace with another fine try again improved by Mankee.
The elusive Parma was next to cross for the Cherry and Whites coming up from full back with purpose to dot down and Mankee’s conversion made the score 6-33.
In the final quarter North Petherton did manage two consolation tries but Ducker wrapped up a dazzling hat trick with another score and fly half Grant Thirlby stoked over the conversion to conclude matters.
