Following last week's announcement that a first five players have put pen to paper, thus contracting them beyond the end of this season, the Cornish Pirates have announced the names of four more players to have signed.

Those named last week were hookers Rob Elloway and Tom Channon (both 2 year contracts), centre Alex Dancer (1 year), and utility backs Kieran Goss and Mike Pope (both 2 years).

With reference to the latest group of players to have signed, they are confirmed as utility back Matt Evans (1 year), full-back/wing Craig Holland, and back-rowers Joe Atkinson and Chris Morgan (all 2 years).

Canadian international Matt, aged 26, made his debut for the Pirates away to Munster 'A' in November, 2011. He has made 53 appearances for the Pirates and has been a prolific try-scorer, notching up an impressive 30 to his name.

Brighton-born Craig is in his first season in Cornwall, the 22 year old having joined from Loughborough Students. To date he has featured in 24 games, playing mainly at full-back, and has accumulated 73 points, including five tries.

Joe, aged 22, also joined the Pirates from Loughborough Students last summer.

A former England under 16s and England Students international, he has made 12 appearances for the Pirates as one of a number of squad members who have taken a step up and are developing their rugby careers.

As for the fourth signature to be announced, Chris is, of course, a familiar face, having just reached the 150 games milestone for the club.

Now aged 32, when the Pirates played away to Bristol in their first ever match in National One back in 2003, Chris was in the home side.

He had a loan spell with the Pirates in 2005, and joined on a full-time contract in 2008, since when he has regularly been an outstanding contributor on the field.

Director of Rugby, Ian Davies, said: "It's a big positive for the Cornish Pirates that we are re-signing some our experienced players who will be integral to the development of the clutch of youngsters we are looking to retain".
