Children from Landewednack School at The Lizard were celebrating last week after the school’s football team were crowned the Larger Primary Schools’ Football League champions.
After a league play-off with Parc Eglos and Mullion Primary School Landewednack were victorious by winning both of their matches, beating Parc Eglos 1-0 and Mullion 2-1.
Head teacher Sue Wilson said: “We are all delighted with the boys performance and would like to thank their coach Darren Thirlaway who coaches the team and runs our school football club each week.”
Organiser Chris Powley of Parc Eglos School said: “There is a new name on the trophy this year. Congratulations to Landewednack. They played some excellent football on the night and deservedly went home as champions. Well done everyone and we look forward to next season when Landewednack will return to defend their title.”
