The race for the Premier Division title is really hotting up in the West Cornwall Table Tennis league, sponsored by Cornwall TV Services Ltd, wirtes David Plumb.

St Austell A have climbed to the top of the league with a two point lead over Falmouth Docks A with just two matches left to play.

The two sides played out a hard fought draw with Adrian Noott the standout player winning his three for Docks, Dave Waddington winning one, and the pair combining to win the doubles.
James Wright and Carl Baldry won two each for St Austell, Alex Wright won one.

In their other match St Austell scraped past Bridge A 6-4 as James won his three matches, Alex won two tight matches deuce in the fifth end, and Carl won one.

Will Abouelhana, Austin Chapman and Kelly Reed all won one point for Bridge.

Bridge beat two man Docks D 9,1 to leave them comfortably in third place in the table, Austin and Will were both unbeaten, Kelly with one point, Rob Hatherly claimed Docks D's only point of the match.

Docks C have slipped down to fifth in the table after a 6-4 defeat away to St Ives A.

Chris Peters won his three for two man Docks C. Karim Ali and Mike Moore won one each for St Ives. Docks B beat two-man St Ives 8-2 with the ever-impressive Jeremy Williams and Martin Rule both unbeaten in the singles and doubles. Karim Ali and David Smith won one point each for St Ives.

The fight for the first division title is also incredibly close with only one point separating Mounts Bay A from Bridge B, as both teams have three matches left to play.

The two teams played out a draw as Nigel Cock won all three, Mark Cock one and the doubles for Mounts Bay.

Nigel Tregenza and Bernard Harvey both won two, Paul Thomas won one point for Bridge.
Mounts Bay beat Penpol 7-3 as Nigel and Mark both ended the night unbeaten.

Andrew Nicholson, Andy Senior and Adam Sparks all won one point for Penpol.

Bridge B have piled the pressure on Mounts Bay after they whitewashed Harris Mill, Paul and Bernard teamed up with Ryan Reed to complete the 10-0 victory. Docks E are currently third in the table only 7 points off the top spot.

A 7-3 defeat to Mylor A was followed by a 9-1 victory over Peoples Palace B.

Callum Lewis and Dominique Williams both won four out of six, Charlie Scorse winning three from three for Docks. Jamie Bassett produced an outstanding performance for Mylor winning his three, Chris Bassett and Ian Bell with one point each.

Cape Cornwall A still have a very good chance of winning the title as they are only eight points off the top spot but have a game in hand.

Cape shared the points with Docks F, Scott Meagor and Robert Fuller winning two singles matches and the doubles. Jeremy Hartley and Alan Brandwood won two points each, Jack Cortis one for Docks F, Jeremy edging past Robert 18-16 in the fifth end.

Docks G and Palace A also played out a 5-5 draw, Charlie Scorse was the player of the match for Docks G winning all his games and was supported by Jack Cortis with one singles victory and the doubles.

Andy Parker and Simon Jacobs won two points each for Palace, Brian Nicholls one.

The second division is also incredibly close with Marazion ahead of St Ives B by one point as both teams have three matches to go.

Marazion beat two man, Cape Cornwall B 7,3. Mike Elford won both his games, Harry Stanbury one from two, the pair winning the doubles. Jeremy Oates won two from three for Cape B and Howard Charman one.

Marazion then played third placed Docks J and managed to win 6-4. Harry finished unbeaten and Neil Pinkett won two from three.

Mike Elford succumbed to the pressure and won one. David Greenough claimed two points for Docks J and Joshua Copeland one.

Docks J beat second placed St Ives B 6-4 as Joshua ended the match unbeaten, David won two and the doubles. Andrew Tyson provided the best performance for St Ives winning two, Will and Tristan Wynne both won one.

St Ives then beat two man Palace C 8-2. Tristan won both his games, Andrew and Josh Francis won one each, Andy Parker claimed the two points for Palace C.

Docks M are running away at the top of the third division as they’ve opened up a 14 point gap over Saracens B with four games to go.

Docks M beat Docks N 9-1, Palace E 10-0 and Mounts Bay B 8-2.

Dan Preston was unbeaten with nine from nine, Mark Tynan eight from nine and 9 year-old Dylan Tynan seven from nine.

Saracens A are comfortably second in the table after a 7-3 win at home to Palace E was followed by a 6,4 win away at Cape C.

Josh Preston won four from five, Freya Tuffrey three from five and Paige Baker two from five.
Tim Weaver produced an outstanding display for Palace E against them and beat all three of them.

Mylor B are in fourth place in the table following a 9,1 win away at Palace E and a 6,4 win at home to Saracens B.

David Jenkin won all six, David Marshall won three from three and Christine Allen three from six.
Hal Merritt played well for Saracens B picking up two points, Matilda Dickens-Williams and Jago Chenoweth both won one each.

Docks N played with two players against Docks Q as Ian Mcleod and John Tuffrey both finished the match unbeaten as they won 7-3.

Docks P hosted Docks Q and secured an 8-2 win.

Richard and Chloe Crilly finished unbeaten and Chloe Parsons won two from three. Lily Owen won one point for Docks Q and teamed up with Bryn Owen to win their second point.
