Falmouth U13s can hold their heads high after a superb performance in their semi-final cup match, writes Adam Laity.
The squad have managed to make tremendous progress in each and every game this season.
The squad has welcomed new players who are starting to find their feet, and are making valuable contributions to the way in which the team plays.
Recently performances against Redruth and Truro have shown that the side is able to give all teams in the county a full-blooded and competitive encounter.
After beating local rivals Penryn in the previous round, the draw against Penzance looked a tough call after a rather bruising defeat at the Mennaye at the beginning of the season.
However, the Falmouth boys were able to show how far they have come since September, and were able to maintain parity and keep in touch for the majority of the game.
If Falmouth were able to convert a good period of pressure and chances at the beginning of the second half the result may well have been closer.
The depth of the squad is now becoming a real positive for the side as they were able to field two complete front rows and were able to take the field with a strong side despite three influential players missing on the day.
The ‘crunchie bar’ award for outstanding tackling during the game went to Jago; while the man-of-the-match was awarded to Josh who seems to have found his best form again.
