Caradon  2 Falmouth 9

Falmouth were rampant as they faced mid-table Caradon at Lux Park, Liskeard on Saturday.

The league leaders pushed forwards early on as they looked to make amends for the 4-4 result the last time these teams met.

Rachael Tatlow sped up the wing to square the ball for Sam Dunstan, who swept in at the back post.

Shortly afterwards Falmouth were hit with a counter attack and Clare Poad batted in from close range to level the tie.

Falmouth continued to press for the lead which was restored as Clare Hudson self-passed from outside the D, wiggled her way through the Caradon defence before unleashing a fierce shot into the left corner.

At half time the game was still finely poised, but two goals in quick succession from the restart appeared to put the game beyond reach.

Hudson doubled her tally from open play and was involved with the 4th goal as her searching ball out to the right reached Dunstan who, in turn, found Victoria Pryor at the far post.

Caradon pulled one back against the run of play but from the restart Falmouth immediately struck again with the trademark Hudson, Kathryn Barbery-Redd and Tatlow triangle producing a goal from Tatlow's deflected shot.

Falmouth really produced a spectacular team performance for the travelling supporters as Nicola Hinton and player of the match Amy Figgins supplied the forward line with quality passes and kept the tempo up.

Terri Barbery-Redd, Megan Cookson and Rachel Medd produced a string of top drawer tackles to keep the Caradon forwards frustrated, and Hannah Bowman had to remain alert to deflect a stinging shot wide late on.

Falmouth really did turn on the quality and with their slick attacking style Dunstan, Pryor, Tatlow and Mia Tumoana each notched up goals to seal a convincing win.

Falmouth 2 Plymouth Marjons ll 0

Falmouth went into their second game of the weekend aiming to secure another three points.

Plymouth Marjons started brightly and put the hosts under pressure with switching and accurate passing.

Falmouth soaked up the attacks well and much of the first half was played in the centre of the pitch; both defensive lines proving difficult to break. The game was finely balanced at half time.

A tactical change during the break meant the Falmouth defence were far more organised.

Terri Barbery-Redd distributed balls towards the spaces which allowed the forwards to get into their stride.

Rachael Tatlow, on one of her trademark runs, slipped the ball to Sam Dunstan and her goal was met with jubilation from her teammates and the watching crowd.

With a slight cushion Falmouth were able to play with more control and soon the lead was doubled.

Another cross from player of the match, Tatlow, was powered in by Claire Hudson.

Marjons continued to press and Hannah Bowman faced a succession of penalty corners with her defensive line. Rachel Medd was fast off the line to block the initial shots and Megan Cookson was able to clear.

As the final whistle blew Falmouth knew the job was done, and done well.

Launceston  2 Falmouth ll 2

Falmouth seconds travelled to Bude for their league fixture against Launceston. 

The home team went straight on the attack and the Falmouth defence were made to work hard for the opening minutes.

Falmouth gradually took control and dominated the possession for the rest of the first half but were unable to find a way through the Launceston defence.

They were made to pay for this when Launceston scored a goal on the break to take a 1-0 lead into the half time break.

Falmouth came out strongly after the interval and scored the equalising goal straight from the start as Gill Lister pushed the ball wide of the approaching ‘keeper as she made no mistake with the good through ball from Jeanne Naylor.

This boosted Falmouth and they maintained the pressure and took the lead as good linking play between midfielders, Jeanne Naylor, Iona Middleton, Molly Phillips and Player of the Match, Leonie Coutelle resulted in the ball once again reaching Gill Lister who was in a good position to cross the ball for Emma Bragg to provide the final scoring touch.

As Falmouth continued to press forward Launceston were always dangerous on the break and they took full advantage of one of their chances to even the scores.

The more experienced Launceston team tested Falmouth in the final stages of the game but the defence stood firm and the visitors were able to claim their well deserved share of the points.
