Camborne have won their appeal to the RFU at a hearing in Bristol this evening (Monday), giving a huge boost to their hopes of securing promotion from Tribute South One West.

The issue arose when their game at Clevedon earlier in the season was ended prematurely after the posts at one end of the ground blew down in gale force winds.

Camborne were unwilling to relocate the game to an adjoining pitch, with Clevedon leading 6-0.

As a result the match was awarded to Clevedon and Camborne were hit with a five point penalty.

But on Monday night the RFU ruled that, rather than uphold the penalty, the game should be replayed.

Cherry and Whites coach Liam Chapple, speaking on the way back from the hearing, said he was "relieved and obviously pleased" with the decision.

He said: "This outcome leaves us with all to play for in the promotion race with the final placings now to be decided by results on the field."

Camborne currently sit fourth in the table, five points off the lead. They host bottom club Sidmouth this weekend.
