Falmouth One and All/Penryn Saracens 53 Bodmin 12
For the third week in a row Falmouth One and All and Penryn Saracens have combined forces to fulfil a fixture, and on this occasion the combination was a potent one with ‘PenFal’ running in nine tries to demolish their opponents by 53-12, writes Jeff Maddern.
Over the last few months the One and All have taken some heavy defeats, with large numbers of key players being unavailable but on this occasion it was Falmouth, supported by Penryn Saracens who were running rings around their opponents.
Six players from Penryn and eleven from Falmouth made the journey to Bodmin and from the kick off it was obvious that PenFal were too strong for the home side.
Ed ‘Kernow King’ Rowe was the first to get on the score sheet with a relatively easy touch down after Phil Morgan had charged down a clearance kick, enabling PenFal’s classy backs to spin the ball wide to Ed.
Bodmin were still reeling from the early score when Tom Edmonds ghosted through a gap in their defence to draw the full back and send Dave Fisher in for try.
Alex Stuthridge missed the difficult conversion to bring the score to 10-0 with only ten minutes played.
Nick Carne added a third try for the visitors before Bodmin took advantage of a lapse in concentration to catch and drive from a lineout for a well worked try, bringing them back in the game at 17-7.
PenFal quickly hit back with Rowe getting his second try, followed by Josh Symonds who shrugged off three or four tackles to dot down under the posts bringing the half time score to 31-7.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first with PenFal throwing the ball around from all areas of the pitch leaving Bodmin chasing shadows.
Tom Vincent got his first try of the season followed by an interception try by Robin Pitt.
Rob Brakes scored a great individual try by beating several defenders with sheer pace, and not to be out done Nick Carne scored the final try from inside his own 22m line sidestepping and beating the opposition with sheer pace to crush Bodmin with a 53-12 final score.
Tom Vincent was awarded the coveted Man of the Match award.
