Ruby Breadon of Penryn College has been given the huge honour of being chosen as part of Team GB to represent her country at the ISA World Junior Surfing Games in Ecuador this April.
The year 10 student has been involved in several selection processes, and many gruelling competitions to gain such superb recognition for her efforts.
During a recent half term school holiday, Ruby attended a week’s intensive training camp in Portugal, which lead to selection for the travel team.
Astonishingly, Ruby has only been taking part in national events for less than a year, which is a remarkably short time to climb the ranks, but is under no illusions as to the scale of the task ahead.
“Competing on the Global scene will be massive step up, I am pretty nervous but am also looking forward to such a great opportunity and experience!” she said.
Despite the team being a GB squad the group only have one sponsor, so fundraising to help cover travel expenses is crucial if they aer to take part.
Ruby is planning fundraising activities at her school over the next two terms, so look out for any help, support or donations you may want to make as they will no doubt be massively appreciated and helpful to the team.
