Falmouth Eagles 29 Honiton 20

A hat-trick from Falmouth Eagles forward AJ Geach helped the Eagles overcome a stubborn Honiton side at the Recreation Ground and end their miserable run of form.

Honiton were the architects of their own downfall, giving away a series of sloppy penalties early on which invited pressure and allowed the Eagles to get a foothold in the game.

A penalty try in the opening 20 minutes put the Eagles into the lead, before Geach went over for his first try of the game following some good play from the Eagles forwards.

Justyn Irons knocked over the extras.

Honiton hit back with a converted try from Ollie Rice, but Geach crossed the whitewash once more before the half time whistle, and Irons was on target with the conversions to put the Eagles firmly in control.

Ben Webber knocked over a penalty for Honiton after the restart, but Geach bulldozed his way over the line to restore Falmouth's comfortable lead.

Webber notched up another five points with the boot, and the Devon side were awarded a penalty try late on to set up a nervy finish.

But Falmouth were well wortht the win, and Phil Angove's side saw the clock down to secure a morale-boosting victory.
