ST AGNES 3 FALMOUTH TOWN 1

THIS Jolly's Combination League clash was a game of two halves for Falmouth Town. The first was an excellent performance, but the second was a poor display of finishing and defending which saw Town leave Enys Parc a well-beaten side.

Things looked promising early on with the midfield three of Tim Hooper, Luke Appleton, and Darren Friend dictating the play. Skipper Duncan Gillett also joined the attacks from his sweeper position and went close on two occasions.

Town peppered the Aggie goal with Andy westgarth shooting wide and Hooper just over.

Bobby Bryant and Matt Roberts were prominent in the wide positions, getting plenty of crosses in, and Town's former goalkeeper Lee Mitchell handled well to keep them at bay.

It came as no surprise when Town took the lead on 25 minutes, Steve Procter's turn and shot in one movement giving Mitchell no chance.

Town were made to pay for not adding to their tally when St Agnes scored right on half time through Tom Benney's snap shot.

At the start of the second half Procter got to the byline and pulled a ball back for Westgarth but he blazed a glorious chance over the bar.

It proved a turning point for Town as they were made to pay as Justin Andrew put Aggie ahead from their next attack after some sloppy defending.

Andrew also had two one on ones with Matt Prynn. The young 'keeper saved both, but could not stop the unmarked Benney scoring a third from close range ten minutes from time.

Manager Phil Shapcott said: "We were made to pay for our missed chances. The game should have been over by half time.

"As well as we played first half, we were poor in the second and didn't deserve to come away with anything to be honest."
