PENRYN u11s entertained Liskeard/Looe and Hayle at the Memorial Ground on Sunday as they kicked off the second half of their season..

Against Liskeard/Looe, Penryn started tentatively and were a little rusty after the Christmas lay off. It took them ten minutes to get into their stride as the forwards did what they were asked to do and provided a sound platform for the three-quarters to play from, and play they did.

Time after time they were able to create the over lap with both wingers seeing plenty of ball. The forwards dominated the set scrums winning not only their own ball but also that of Liskeard/Looe's and none shone more than Adam Hughes and Aiden Spargo who worked tirelessly in the rucks and mauls. However, they will have to work on their line outs which are becoming a bit of a lottery.

Scores came from Bradley Amiable, Kyle Laycock (2), Kyren Coulls (2) and Robbie Frost. Rory Christopher converted four from four with Coulls adding the other two.

Final score: 42-0.

For the second game against Hayle, Penryn changed four of the five forwards and three of the three-quarters and this set of forwards were just as committed and efficient as those against Liskeard/Looe.

Debutant Jack Gleadowl showed up well at prop forward as did Gus Teakle playing at hooker. Both got around the field in support and carried the ball well.

A new set of half backs was tried with Rory Christopher moving to fly half and Jack Hesketh coming in a scrum half. This partnership worked well and with Kyle Laycock at inside centre this combination suggests a promising way forward.

Again Penryn were too strong for the Hayle team who, to their credit, did not give in and have improved since last season.

Scorers were Dillan Peglau, Gus Teakle, Aiden Spargo, Samuel Slydell, Aaron Nancholas and Ryan Churcher. Rory Christopher kicked four from four conversions with Kyren Coulls adding the extra two. Final score: 42-0.

Just prior to Christmas Penryn were away to last season's Cornish champions Newquay and got a very deserved victory by 21-7.

Scorers were Adam Hughes, Kyren Coulls and Kyle Laycock. Rory Christopher kicked three from three conversions.

Penryn under 11s have now played 13, won 12 and drawn one.
