FALMOUTH TOWN TIGERS u12's 2 HELSTON u12s 0

THIRD placed Falmouth Town Tigers played host to unbeaten league leaders Helston needing a win to get them back into the title race.

Both teams played with commitment right from the kick-off and as the game wore on Tigers began to make good use of striker Jake Gregory's pace by playing some good passes behind the square Helston defence.

The striker went close on a couple of occasions before another good pass saw him outstrip the visiting defence and place an excellent chip over the advancing 'keeper and into the back of the net to give Tigers a deserved half-time lead.

Playing with the elements in the second half, Tigers dominated possession in the early stages and managed to create several chances, but were thwarted by the offside flag on a number of occasions.

Play went from end to end but the resolute Tigers defence restricted the visitors defence to long range efforts, which were well dealt with by 'keeper Joe Dobson.

Tigers strived for a second goal to put the game out of reach of the league leaders and were rewarded when Jake Gregory again got in behind the Helston defence and fired the ball into the top corner.

The Tigers continued to battle hard for every ball but were unable to increase their lead despite carving out more chances.

This was a tremendous team performance and undoubtedly Tigers' best of the season and now puts them right back in the title race.
