BODIES wearing yellow and black stripped kits were flung on the line as Porthleven took home a point from their South West Peninsula league West clash at Penryn Athletic.
The hosts knocked on the door and looked likely to get a winner in Saturday's match, but they were undone by misfiring shots, good goalkeeping from Benji Bryant or a defence which did everything they could to earn a draw.
Port had just 12 mean in their match-day squad, one of them being Elliott Jorey who signed for them in the morning from Athletic after they kindly waved the seven day approach.
It seemed like it would be a long afternoon for the Fishermen when in the fourth minute a horrendous mistake by Bryant, who let the ball run past him 30 yards away from goal, was latched upon by David Leach who had the simplist of tap ins.
In a match which saw both sides pressing hard in midfield, which stifled the game for large parts, Port kept their heads and in the 25th minute got an equaliser when Dan Thomas beat the offside trap and chipped the ball over Chris Symons.
The second half started like the first had finished with both sides' midfield cancelling each other out.
But then Athletic starting getting chances in the last 25 minute with Kevin Lawrence, Scott Palmer and Luke Brabyn all going close, but would ultimately be left frustrated as they could not find a way past a defiant Port defence.
When Dan Tarrant was shown red for a reckless challenge on Sean Johnson in the 83rd minute, it looked like the chips were up for Penryn.
But they still struggled to get a clinical touch to take three points, allowing Port to walk off with smiles on their faces.
