BOARD members of the South West Peninsula League have said a reserve league is still a possibility even after the Devon & Exeter League did not apply for step seven status.
It was confirmed by the Football Association the organising committee of the league had missed the December 31 deadline.
As reported by the Packet on November 14, SWPL administrators had said they would look into starting a reserve league should the Devon & Exeter plans get green-lighted and see a number of member clubs switch over.
Following the update, a statement from the SWPL confirmed they are still going to look into the proposals.
A spokesman said: "Whilst this development meant no need to rush into running a reserve team division or divisions, there was still interest in the idea.
"It was proposed that the idea be referred to the Rules Revision Committee to look into drawing up firm proposals to bring back both to the board and to member clubs own committees to look into, with a view that the 2015 AGM maybe asked to consider such rules be entered into the league so that the board would have the power to run reserve divisions in future seasons if felt appropriate."
The AGM takes place on June 2 and any rule changes will not be introduced until the 2016/17 season.
