FALMOUTH TOWN LADIES 9
PENZANCE 0
FALMOUTH Town Ladies played their first home game since November after heavy winter rain and poor weather delayed fixtures.
The match at Dracaena against a depleted Penzance team saw Falmouth run out 9-0 winners.
Not only did the game give Town a welcome goal difference boost but it also saw the long awaited debut of Rachel Cudd and the chance to bring on several promising youngsters.
Penzance deserve praise for their resillience and sportsmanship. They got behind the ball in numbers and pressed Town when given the chance. Yet it was not to be their day.
Not surprisingly Town's top markswoman, Alex Kent, opened up the scoring after just five minutes. A Kent rampage saw her net a further four times in an impressive display of quality finishing.
Midfielder Helena Calfe deservedly scored twice, Sasha Sparkes drilled home a super effort and Kim Singh eventually got the goal she deserved late on the game.
Substitutes Beth Hibbs, Lauren Scarce and Cudd all showed good signs for the future.
Town visit Camelford on Sunday.
Falmouth Town: L. Harris, T. Roberts, N. Haughton, S. Sparkes, L. Waters, T. Powell, H. Calfe, N. Blight, Sasha Sparkes, K, Singh and A. Kent.
