FALMOUTH TOWN IV 1
FALMOUTH VILLA 5
AFTER an impressive away win to Threemilestone the previous week, Falmouth Town IV were looking to end their Serviceforce West Cornwall Sunday League season by starting an unbeaten run for the last four games.
Manager Mike Fearn spurred his men on in the pre-match talk and Town made their first attempt on goal in just a couple of minutes. Falmouth Villa held out though, as attempts rained down on their goal, Sean Rickard going the closest with a fantastic solo effort which ended up wide of the post.
As the first half drew on, Town were getting frustrated as more chances were wasted, and Villa started to get a foothold in the game.
It was Villa who gave the home side something to think about just after half time, after a lapse of concentration from Town lead to Villa opening the goal scoring.
They doubled their lead soon after, when sloppy play from Town allowed them to take a 2-0 lead and as the second half drew on, Town struggled with undistinguished goalkeeping leading to Villa adding another three goals to their tally.
Town's consolation came from Sean Rickard, but by then Villa were enjoying sending Town to their sixth defeat of the season.
Falmouth Town's squad will need to improve if they are to beat league leaders Truro GWRSA next Sunday.
