FALMOUTH u12s 17pts TRURO u12s 21pts
FALMOUTH'S improving squad gave a strong Truro team a close run for their money at The Recreation Ground on Sunday, the difference between the teams in the end being just the two missed conversions from Falmouth. Each side scored three tries in a fast-paced and skilfully played match.
Truro scored two tries in the fourth and 20th minutes of the opening half, the first looking as though it was scored from an offside position, before Falmouth replied with a forward drive touched down by hooker Will James just before half time to cap another strong performance.
In the second half the game was played from end to end. Falmouth drew closer with a fine try by Oliver Stick converted by Freddie Tomlinson, but Truro scored a further try after a fine long-distance run from James Murdoch which was converted meaning that Falmouth had to score twice to snatch victory.
Despite much pressure they managed only one more score from scrumhalf and captain Charlie Conchie, nipping round the blindside of a ruck and diving over in the corner.
There were some best-of-their-lives performances from several Falmouth players, notably man of the match Harry Spargo, Matthew Tredget and Charlie Sanders who all seemed to flourish in the frenetic atmosphere generated by a big crowd and perfect rugby weather. The team's efforts should give them high expectations af a win when they visit Newquay next week.
Falmouth (all played for part of the game): Caspar Fuller, Oliver Stick, Freddie Tomlinson, George Leakey, Jack Stephens, Louis Bamford, George Vincent, Jack Reed, Charlie Conchie, Joseph Parry, Harry Spargo, Will James, Alex Bullock, Charlie Sanders, Matthew Tredget, Toby Cumins
