CORNWALL Fire Brigade FC are through to the semi-finals of the English Fire Brigades' National knockout Cup following their 3-2 success over Devon Fire Brigade.
The game was played at Exminster F.C. and was a thrilling affair with the result in doubt right up until the final few minutes with Cornwall leading 2-1 through goals by Martin Murt and Chris Wolstencroft.
Devon equalised late on and the tie appeared to be heading for extra time, but this, however galvanised Cornwall again and it was the Duchy's Danny O'Hagan who raced through to put the game beyond Devon with minutes remaining and book Cornwall's place in the semi-final for the third year in succession.
"I will be hoping for better fortunes as manager this time round at the third attempt," said Sacha Wheatman, "but against last years winners, Greater Manchester Fire Service, it is going to be a though test.
"We will be hoping the return of some key players, including Luke Hodge, will boost our chances."
The semi-final is to be played at Bodmin's Priory Park on Thursday, March 8, kick off 3pm.
