SID Taylor praised Millbrook after the side beaten 16-1 by his Helston Athletic team earlier in the season only lost 3-0 to them on Saturday.
When the sides clashed in August, it proved to be a day where the Blues had the Midas touch in front of goal with their thumping victory.
This time though, the Brook put in a much better performance despite the fact they fell to another defeat.
Athletic are once again on top of the South West Peninsula League West following the win, but Taylor felt the real stars of the show were their opponents.
Taylor said: “To be fair to Millbrook, they came with a clear game plan which was based around damage limitation and they were much improved.
“They were well organised and defended well too and they can take a lot of heart from the way they played.
“For us it was all about getting the three points and we gave a few of the guys who haven’t started recently a run out as if we are going to win the league, we will need to do so as a squad, so we need all the guys working.”
Millbrook’s tactics kept the home side at bay until the 32nd minute when Mikey Davies finally got the chance to open the scoring.
The midfielder, pictured below, cut in from the right into the box before firing a shot into the goal.
It took a penalty in the second half for Athletic to double their lead when Andrew Westgarth was fouled in the area, with Mark Goldsworthy converting from the spot.
The striker added a third for the hosts just after the hour mark.
Athletic are not in action again until February 7, when they travel to Dobwalls in the Cornwall Charity Cup second round.
They then have another weekend off before travelling to play the same team again on February 21, this time in the league.
Having been on a good run recently, Taylor said it was a shame not to be playing regularly.
“It is disappointing to have gaps like we are about to have in the fixture list,” he said.
“We haven’t lost any of our last six league games, with five wins from them, so it could make our momentum suffer.
“But we’ll just have to work hard in training and perhaps squeeze in a friendly somewhere along the way to keep fresh.”
