A POPULAR youth football competition in aid of charity will be returning to Wendron United this year.
Details of the 2015 edition of the Sharon Wood Mini-Soccer Tournament have been released by organisers at the Jolly’s Combination League club.
The festivities will take place on July 19 with matches for teams in age groups spanning from Under 7s TO 13s in what is the largest event of its type in the West Country.
A total of 220 matches will be played over 14 pitches at the club’s Underlane base in the tournament named after the founding member of the side’s youth commitment, who sadly passed away from cancer in 1999.
Money from the event will be split between Cancer Research UK and the club’s youth section.
There is a limit to the amount of teams who can take part in each age group, with a maximum of 12 in U7 and U8, 14 in U9 and U10 and 16 in the rest.
Entries are done on a first come first served basis with a charge of £25 per side.
Games for the U7 and U8s will be five-a-side and the U13s is six-a-side.
The rest of the age categories will be seven-a-side.
