STRIKES from the Annear brothers saw Porthleven bag a first win in four games with a dominant display at home against Wadebridge Town.
Saturday’s South West Peninsula League West clash at Gala Parc was settled for the hosts by a brace from the younger of the duo, Jordan, before older brother and skipper Tom scored with ten minutes to go in the 3-1 victory.
It was a brilliant performance from the Fishermen with the midfield linking up well while debutant Kyle Winnan, who signed last week from Penryn Athletic, who Port meet this weekend, also looked good in defence with centre back partner Dan Tarrant.
Ben Allen-Bassett also impressed for the hosts and was in very creative mood, which he showed by setting up the opening goal in the fifth minute.
After the ball was worked up from the back, Allen-Bassett carved out a superb pass for Annear who then picked his spot and fired a shot past Ben Hurst in Town’s goal.
His second score 13 minutes later was also created by the midfielder when he squared the ball to Annear with the striker’s effort giving Hurst no chance of stopping it.
A first half hat-trick was nearly bagged by him not long after doubling the lead, but this time his shot was well saved by the away goalkeeper.
Between them, Annear and Allen-Bassett were pulling Wadebridge apart and the latter nearly got on the scoresheet before the break only to see his shot go over the bar.
The visitors did not get a hold of the game until the stroke of half time when Benji Bryant was forced to make a good save from a Connor Newton shot.
After the interval, the elder of the Annear brothers went close when he hammered a shot just wide of the post before Bryant made another couple of fine saves for Port.
First up he managed to claw away James Cudmore’s effort which appeared to be a cross which nearly crept in below the crossbar and then was at full stretch to prevent Newton from scoring.
In the 80th minute the win was secured by Port when their skipper was put through by Allen-Bassett and just like his younger sibling, Annear made no mistake in front of goal.
Luke Hobbs scored a consolation goal for the visitors three minutes later when he volleyed in from close range from a corner taken by Cudmore.
PORTHLEVEN: Bryant, Wormington, Tarrant, Winnan, Hunter (McCardie 60), Hall, T Annear (c), Best (Heywood 78), Allen-Bassett, J Annear, Williams.
