SUPERMARKET firm Morrisons has said claims made in a report about the Stadium For Cornwall ahead of Thursday's crucial planning committee are 'unfounded and incorrect'.
Officers at Cornwall Council have advised committee members to refuse the proposals put forward by the Cornish Pirates and Truro and Penwith College for the 10,000 capacity ground to be built at West Langarth.
In the document, one of the reasons stated the refusal verdict was based on their belief if an Asda store was built in conjuction with another scheme, rival company Morrisons would not agree to construct their own shop.
As part of the SFC plans, developers have been looking to get retailers onboard to help bankroll the project.
Richard Haynes, development executive for Morrisons, said: "These statements and opinions do not speak for Morrisons, they are unfounded and incorrect and Morrisons has not been approached by the council’s consultants to establish our position.
"We continue to invest in new stores and our position remains, as previously stated, that we are fully aware of the multiple food store applications in Truro and continue to await with interest the final outcome at the forthcoming planning committee."
Support has also been given to the plans by the Truro Chamber of Commerce and a petition signed by more than 4,700 people.
