IAN Connell has put out a rallying call to all Stadium For Cornwall campaigners urging them not to give up the fight.
On Thursday evening, Cornwall Council's planning committee deferred a decision over proposals for a supermarket at the West Langarth site which would help fund the building of the 10,000 seater ground.
With two other shop plans being passed at the same meeting, boss of the developers Inox Rob Saltmarsh said afterwards the prospect of stadium now go ahead were "dead".
However, Connell has sent a message out calling for supporters to keep believing.
Connell, pictured above, said: "I am sure that everybody involved with the Pirates was as disappointed as me as the proceedings at the SPC meeting in Truro came to their conclusion.
"I know that the confused ending will have brought total dismay to everyone.
"However from our perspective we have to recognise the following:
- The West Langarth application was deferred – it is NOT refused
- A 3 month deadline is imposed to resolve the various outstanding issues
- S4C continues to have planning consent
"To all our stakeholders, I would like to express my thanks for all the messages of support that have been received, they are much appreciated.
"Don’t lose the faith, it’s merely half time."
