Newquay u12s 28pts

Falmouth u12s 26pts

This was another narrow 28-26 defeat for a battling Falmouth side by the margin of one missed conversion.

Falmouth won the toss and elected to kick up the slope. They matched their bigger opponents in every aspect, with Ruairi Dunne and Angus Mackinnon scoring well worked tries from good forward work.

They turned around two points down and with high hopes that their superiority in rucking and possession would enable them to overcome this deficit as they unleashed their backs down the hill.

This plan did not quite work as Newquay won more of the ball in the second half and used their size and some clever kicking to pin Falmouth back.

Falmouth went a further score behind before Jack Reed pulled one back with some very impressive running.

Newquay's big guns scored again and Falmouth knew they had to score twice in the last few minutes. It could have seemed an impossible task and confidence could have ebbed away, but instead, man of the match, Joseph Parry and Will James led their teammates to a spirited finale with Joseph himself forcing his way over the line.

As Freddie Tomlinson popped over his third conversion there was still all to play for but time ran out with Falmouth closing on the line again.
