RAY Crebo and Francis Vickerstaffe will play Joe Hill and Jess Willard in the final of the Praa Sands Golf Club Barry Mounter Trophy on February 25, writes Simon Edwards.

They defeated Nigel Waters (playing alone) and Colin Cratchley and Charlie May respectively in the semi-final matches on Sunday morning.

In the four ball better ball medal, played alongside the semi-final, John and Paul Murrish returned 58 nett to win with Chris and Richard Dunn taking second place with 59. Ed Hall and Barry Knowles were third with 60 on the last nine from Ray Pearce and David Phillips.

At the Sunday presentation, the members said a fond farewell to Fred Hayne who is leaving Cornwall to take up a new post in Scotland. Fred has been an active and extremely supportive member of the club for 20 years and everyone wishes him every success.

In very windy conditions, Caroline Worrell won the ladies' Stableford on Saturday afternoon with 31 points. Lou Archer was second with 29 and Anna Harry third with 27.

Barbara Wilkins scored 15 points to win the ladies' nine-hole Stableford on Wednesday morning. Connie May was second with 13 points and Jennifer Chambers third with 11. Jennifer also won the putting competition.

The quiz nights continue on Friday at 8 pm. The Ladies play their monthly medal on Saturday afternoon and the men play their monthly medal on Sunday morning. Next week there is a weekly Stableford - the ladies play a nine-hole Stableford on Wednesday morning and the Ogres meet in the afternoon.
