THE Royal Cornwall Yacht Club's plans for sailing during the coming year shows a packed programme, writes Phil Sissons.

The Friday evening Points Series will start with the first series race on Good Friday (April 6) and will run for seven weeks. The Stewards Cup is on May 24 and the Second Points Series starts on June 1 and runs through to July 13.

The ladies will lead off for the Ladies' Helm race on July 20 followed by the Third Points Series from July 27 to September 7.

For the later season the club joins with Flushing SC for a Pursuits Race and then Helford River YC for the Sundays' Autumn Spirit Series in September and October.

The RCYC Challenge Cup and Regatta Day will see racing in Carrick Roads and Falmouth Bay for our members and others from the Port. This will also include a fleet of Bosuns and occurs on Sunday, May 20.

The club is also organising a number of events this Season. On June 2 the Azores and Back Race will start, although yachts will be entering the port for a couple of weeks before the start. On the weekend of May 5-6, we welcome visitors from the Royal Western YC of England in their Triangle race from Plymouth to Falmouth and back via Fowey.

The late May Bank Holiday weekend sees a joint Championship for the IRC rated yachts (from Pembrokeshire to Weymouth) being invited for the South West Championships. The club is also inviting and hosting J/24 yachts from the South West region to a championship. Racing will be in the Bay, subject to weather, for the weekend with eth larger IRC yachts taking part in a coastal race to Gull rock and back on the Sunday.

After a first visit from a fleet of two-handed yachtsmen from Lorient last year, they have decided to rerun the trip to Falmouth with a social stopover during the race at RCYC on August 9. They will race back to Lorient on the 10th.

The club is looking forward to the 2007 season and sailing with friends and competitors during the year.
