BARRY Williams, captain of Budock Vean Golf Club, had one of those days on Sunday as he carded a terrific total of 42 Stableford points to win the latest round of the Winter League.
Tony Grace also played well to take second place with 41 points, but as predicted in last week's Packet, league sponsor Roger Mildren, who has won it on three previous occasions, leapfrogged to the top of table with a fine score of 38 points for third place on the day and a best four round aggregate of 158 points to lead Rob Gibson by two points with two rounds left to play.
A number of players are still in contention but it will be a brave man to bet against Mildren now.
The windy conditions on Sunday, which approached gale force in the afternoon, inevitably led to a "twos" rollover which will create considerable interest during this week's monthly medal.
Indeed it was a good week for the Williams family as Marlene Williams who captains the ladies won the Par/Bogey competition on Wednesday two down. Runner up was Shirley Mildren three down and third was Pat Kirkham four down
