ST DAY 6 FALMOUTH TOWN 1
FALMOUTH Town suffered their heaviest defeat of the season in the Jolly's Combination League when they were hammered 6-1 by St Day.
This completed a double for the league's new boys, but rather significantly, with an impressive tally of 11 goals in the Town net.
Brian Hawke proved the day's major player by helping himself to four goals after becoming a makeshift striker in the absence of Mike Elliott.
Matt Witts put St Day in front in the tenth minute when he headed in Hawke's corner and 15 minutes later the home side doubled their lead when Hawke curled in a cracking goal.
Town had no answer to St Day's incisive attacks in the second half with Hawke adding another three goals to his tally, the best of them a cross from Joe Crossman which he chested down and then gave the 'keeper no chance with a great volley.
Town's only bright moment came on the hour when Brett Southeard scored, but Stuart Reynolds completed the rout with a sixth goal.
