IT was unfortunate that Penryn's league game against Taunton last Saturday had to be postponed, but the condition of all three pitches made it inevitable. In the end an early decision was made to ensure that the visitors did not make an unnecessary journey. The game has been re-arranged for Saturday, March 24.

On Saturday the Borough make their last long trip of the season, treading the familiar path up the M5 to Gloucester. Early in the season Spartans were defeated at the Memorial Ground. There have been several near misses since then, but a combination of bad luck, a long run of injuries and calls on players for other rugby plus non rugby reasons, has left the club struggling at or very close to the bottom of the league.

With only five games left there is only honour to play for, and that honour can be upheld on Saturday as the Borough start on the rehabilitation trail. Spartans have failed to raise a team on eight occasions. They have not won a single league game for the season and will be relegated to Western Counties North.

So Penryn will travel hoping to get their first away win of the season. The club will finalise selection after training on Thursday, and will choose from: Alan Richards, Chris Mann, Kiniviliame Naivaluvu, Peter Webster, Will Paine, Justin Hocking, Josh Chambers, Ian Morgan, Paul Bannister, Richard Burns, Matt Tarby, Syd Savvas, Jof Hardy, Steve Uphill, Chris Johnson, Ed Lawrence, Steve Bucknall, Darryl Foster, Gareth Wills.
