TOM Kessell and Jamal Ford-Robinson have both departed the Cornish Pirates to join up with Bristol for the rest of the season.
Earlier this year it was announced the pair would be heading to Ashton Gate after agreeing contracts with the club, but remained temporarily at the Mennaye until the outcome of the Pirates’ campaign was assured.
The Cornish side’s 27-16 derby win against Plymouth Albion on Sunday confirmed their Greene King IPA Championship status for another year and prompted the release of Kessell and Ford-Robinson to the current league leaders.
Both took part in training for the first time on Tuesday and will be available for selection for Bristol with immediate effect.
Prop forward Ford-Robinson will remain with the club coached by former England and Scotland boss Andy Robinson until the end of 2015/16 and said he is looking forward to life at Ashton Gate.
“I’ve been in and around Bristol for a while,” he said.
“I was born here and have come back for a few rugby camps over the years, so it is weird being back here.
“But I hope to bring a bit of excitement here as I carry the ball quite well and make a big shot now and then.”
Scrum-half Kessell will stay with the side until the end of this campaign before he joins up with Aviva Premiership club Northampton for the start of next season.
After his first training session, Kessell said: “It has been a bit hectic, having to learn new calls, but it is a good place to train.
“I just want to keep playing and concentrate on what I’m doing well.”
