GOOD Friday heralded the welcome return of the grass tees at Falmouth Golf Club and opened up the course to its full length.

The four-man team event, played under the Stableford format with three scores to count, attracted 15 teams. Conditions were ideal and the course was in splendid condition.

The team of Paul Collins, Andy McKnight, Paul Campbell and Terry Dickinson scored a magnificent 125 points to win the competition.

Their nearest rivals were Darren Horton, Rik Shaw, Crispin Merritt and Simon Hirst who scored 118 points.

The qualifier for the Battershill Salver took place on Saturday and attracted 79 entries, played in glorious conditions with a medal format and with the top 16 going through to the knockout rounds.

Gareth Hudson recorded the best round of the day with a fine nett 65, Stephen "Stomy" Thomas clinched second spot after count-back of the back nine holes with a nett 66 and Chris Ramsden was third with a nett 66. Paul Campbell pushed Tony Schorah into fifth place after count-back of the back nine holes after they both recorded a nett 67 each. Bob Pine was sixth with a nett 68.
